About the Role
This position is dedicated to creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. The Deli Department Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return, while simultaneously achieving sales and profit goals. You will serve as the guardian of quality assurance standards, monitoring all functions and activities within the department to ensure they align with the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Day in the Life
Your day involves fostering a culture of trust and respect among associates while empowering the team to meet performance targets through collaboration. You will manage customer volume by developing effective schedules and ensuring the department is staffed appropriately. A significant portion of your time will be spent training associates on job performance and participating in the appraisal process.
You will be the primary point of contact for customers, answering questions about products, offering suggestions, and locating items to make every guest feel welcome and appreciated. This includes informing customers of produce specials and offering samples to help them discover new items. You will also oversee the integrity of the product by reviewing items for quality and freshness, managing inventory processes, and ensuring proper temperatures are maintained in all cases and coolers.
On the business side, you will develop and implement department business plans, execute sales promotions in partnership with store management, and assist in preparing budgets and expense controls. You will also handle operational details such as scheduling price changes and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Requirements
