About the Role
As a Cashier, you are the face of Walgreens, responsible for modeling and delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience. You will engage with customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving issues to ensure a positive interaction. This role goes beyond processing transactions; it involves sharing customer service best practices with the team, from interpersonal habits like eye contact and courtesy to proactive service traits such as identifying needs and servicing until satisfied.
Day in the Life
Your day involves providing courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service at the assigned cash register. You will register purchases, collect cash, process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges, while recommending items and trade-up opportunities to customers. Beyond the register, you will keep counters and shelves clean and well-merchandised, take inventory, and construct displays including promotional and seasonal structures.
You will also handle specialized tasks such as assisting with the separation of food items, maintaining stock rotation, and providing customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photos and creative machine services. Additionally, you may assume web pick-up responsibilities, monitoring orders in Picture Care Plus and delivering them to customers as they arrive. The role requires maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly store condition both inside and out, while complying with all company policies and state laws regarding regulated products.
Hiring Process
Candidates must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico) and be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours. While six months of retail experience and prior Walgreens work experience are preferred, the focus is on a willingness to learn and grow.
