Custodian I

About the Role

As a Custodian I at Craven County Schools, you play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff. This position involves performing routine manual work to clean and maintain school buildings, ensuring that classrooms, hallways, and facilities are ready for learning every day. You will also manage building heating and air conditioning equipment, operating systems to maintain comfortable temperatures throughout the school day.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and polishing floors, as well as washing windows, woodwork, and walls. You will replenish supplies in restrooms and kitchens, empty trash receptacles, and sort materials for the recycling program. Additionally, you will be responsible for locking and unlocking doors and reporting any damages or needed repairs to your supervisor. This role requires the ability to follow simple oral or written directions and perform tasks in accordance with established cleaning schedules.
