About the Role
We are seeking a Corporate Counsel to take ownership of employment matters, healthcare compliance, and lease management across our growing multi-location healthcare organization. This is a hands-on role designed for a practitioner who thrives on execution, speed, and practical problem-solving rather than theoretical over-lawyering.
You will work directly with leadership to handle legal matters internally, significantly reducing our reliance on outside counsel. The position focuses on active control of the lease portfolio, faster resolution of HR and operational issues, and maintaining strong compliance discipline across all locations. Success in this role means managing smaller matters internally while coordinating effectively with external partners on complex cases, ultimately driving down legal costs through efficient internal processes.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleHandle employee relations issues, terminations, and escalations
- check_circleSupport HR with policies, documentation, and compliance
- check_circleRespond to claims, complaints, and agency inquiries
- check_circleIdentify compliance gaps and implement practical solutions to reduce risk
- check_circleReview and manage commercial leases and enforce lease terms
- check_circleHandle landlord issues including repairs, buildouts, and compliance
- check_circleSupport lease negotiations and renewals
- check_circleManage smaller legal matters internally
- check_circleCoordinate with outside counsel on active cases and assist with case preparation
- check_circleTrack legal matters and maintain organized records
- check_circleSupport legal budgeting and improve internal legal processes
- check_circleIdentify and address wage-and-hour risks regarding timekeeping and payroll
Requirements
- verifiedJ.D. from an accredited law school
- verifiedActive bar admission (NY or NJ)
- verified3–7 years of relevant legal experience
- verifiedExperience in employment law, compliance, or contracts
Nice to Have
Experience in healthcare or multi-location businesses. Experience with commercial leases. Familiarity with wage-and-hour compliance. Prior in-house or operational experience.
