This part-time Cook position is a vital component of the Kitchen department, reporting directly to the Sous Chef or Executive Chef. The role is dedicated to managing all aspects of food production for banquets, ensuring that every dish is prepared according to specific descriptions and delivered in a timely, consistent manner.
The position requires a high level of dedication to sanitation and safety practices to guarantee total customer satisfaction. Beyond daily food preparation, the Cook plays a supportive role in the hotel's broader operations by consulting with the Executive Chef, Banquet Chef, and other Food & Beverage departments on a daily basis. This includes participating in long-range planning and making recommendations for ongoing hotel programs focused on continuous improvement and networking.
The kitchen environment is dynamic and operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. The role demands adaptability, as business needs may require shifts to include Saturdays, Sundays, or changes to accustomed work hours. The workspace involves moderate, controlled temperatures but also requires the ability to work in extreme conditions, such as freezers (-10°F) and hot kitchens (+110°F), for extended periods.
The environment is active and often noisy, requiring clear communication as shouting may be necessary to be heard above ambient levels. The role involves significant physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting, as well as the ability to navigate limited spaces and move quickly to different areas of the hotel to meet service demands.
