About Sherwood Design Engineers

Sherwood is a civil and environmental engineering firm committed to investing in people, communities, and the environment. Our mission is to engineer an environmentally and socially regenerative planet.

Our team has delivered net zero energy and carbon systems, resilient coastlines, green streets, and living roofs for thousands of clients globally. We specialize in sustainable infrastructure, water management strategies, and systems-based solutions for landscapes. Our focus is on the conservation and management of site resources—carbon, energy, water, and waste.

Founded in 2003, our award-winning portfolio includes Hudson Yards in New York, the San Francisco Better Streets Plan, the Greater New Orleans Urban Water Plan, the revitalization of Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the Baietan Urban Area Plan in Guangzhou, China.

About the Role

We are seeking an entry-level Computational Designer to join our innovative NY team. This role is designed for early-career professionals or interns eager to learn and contribute to a wide array of projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop clear, evidence-based solutions to complex organizational problems.

In this position, you will engage in exploratory work involving Rhino/Grasshopper, Python, GIS, simulation, AI, IoT, and digital twins. You will collaborate regularly with Project Managers, Computational Specialists, and engineers to assist in site analysis, planning frameworks, and project execution. Your work will involve organizing research into clear summaries and diagrams, as well as supporting the preparation of project documentation, reports, and prototypes. We value curiosity and encourage you to ask clarifying questions when tasks are under-defined.

Hiring Process

We are open to accepting temporary intern-level or early career candidates. If you are passionate about sustainability and environmental modeling, we invite you to apply and join our mission to create a regenerative planet.

Equal Opportunity

Sherwood Design Engineers is an equal opportunity employer. Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. We will consider employment for qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
