The Land and Recreation Grants Section within DSL promotes programs that foster partnerships to enhance and sustain Florida's natural and cultural resources. This position serves as a vital link between the state and local communities, providing consultative services and technical assistance to local governments, state agencies, and non-profit entities. The primary mission of the Community Assistance Consultant is to support the provision of recreational opportunities through grants and special projects that help preserve state lands and recreational facilities.
In this role, you will be the technical expert guiding applicants through the grant process. You will evaluate applications for programs such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund, Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program, and Recreational Trails Program. Your work involves determining eligibility, reviewing commencement documentation, and coordinating post-completion inspections. Beyond administration, you will actively engage with the community by developing reports, distributing educational materials, and conducting workshops and conferences to promote participation in state and federal recreation programs.
