UPMC is hiring a part-time Communication Facilitator to support UPMC Audiology. This role is based at 203 Lothrop Street, Floor 4, Pittsburgh, PA 15213, and operates as a remote position.
The Communication Facilitator serves as a vital bridge between patients and licensed Audiologists, focusing on the management of hearing loss and communication challenges. You will work closely with patients across all age ranges, including geriatric populations and their families, to integrate solutions that improve daily communication.
In this role, you will act as a professional and respectful partner to patients, families, clinical staff, and interprofessional colleagues. Your work involves managing patient communication challenges by providing direct care under the supervision of a licensed Audiologist. This includes the daily management and maintenance of hearing aids and personal listening devices, conducting hearing screenings, and providing education on device care and communication strategies.
You will also collaborate with the Audiologist to suggest, design, and implement facility-wide solutions for better communication. Beyond clinical support, the role includes essential clerical duties that directly support patient care, such as checking in new devices, managing device deliveries and mail, and verifying insurance coverage for amplification devices. You will communicate insurance details to the Audiologist to assist in patient purchase decisions and handle correspondence with industry partners and patients.
