As the School Nurse at Sheridan Junior High, you will serve under the general direction of the building principal to ensure the health care needs of students are met in accordance with state statutes and district policies. Your day will involve a dynamic mix of clinical care, administrative coordination, and community advocacy. You will be responsible for scheduling and performing routine screenings, creating individualized care plans, and assessing students to detect emerging health needs.
Beyond direct patient care, you will act as a critical bridge between families and the school system. This includes reporting on student health matters to parents and physicians, conducting home visits when necessary, and assisting administrators in developing comprehensive school health programs. You will also play a key role in maintaining sanitary standards and implementing board policies regarding infectious diseases, ensuring a safe learning environment for everyone.
