About the Role
As a Cloud Architect, you will serve as a strategic partner to scientific development, DevOps, cybersecurity, and mission stakeholders. Your primary mission is to design and develop cloud architecture strategies that support scientific applications, large-scale data processing, and mission-aligned workflows. You will lead the migration of legacy and modern systems into hybrid and multi-cloud environments, ensuring platforms are secure, scalable, and resilient for research-to-operations (R2O) and high-throughput workloads.
This is a full-time, hybrid position where you will establish cloud governance, enforce cost controls and data compliance, and maintain architecture documentation. You will also troubleshoot infrastructure issues, optimize performance, and implement automation to ensure system reliability and observability. Staying informed on emerging cloud technologies and NOAA-relevant standards, such as cloud portability and FAIR data principles, will be a key part of your day-to-day impact.
