Mayo Clinic is top-ranked in more specialties than any other care provider according to U.S. News & World Report. As we work together to put the needs of the patient first, we are dedicated to our employees, investing in competitive compensation and comprehensive benefit plans to take care of you and your family, now and in the future. With continuing education and advancement opportunities at every turn, you can build a long, successful career with us.
This position is a vital part of our laboratory operations, where you will collect, receive, and process a wide variety of specimens—including body fluids, blood, urine, swabs, and stools—in a safe, accurate, and professional manner. You will perform clinical testing using automated, semi-automated, and manual technologies, ensuring rigorous quality control and assurance procedures are followed to guarantee accurate reporting of test results.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve maintaining various laboratory instruments, troubleshooting technical issues, and participating in external quality controls such as CAP proficiencies. You will display competency in phlebotomy for all age ranges, from pediatrics to geriatrics, and conduct validation and correlation of equipment. Effective communication with providers, nurses, and colleagues regarding critical values and clinical care is essential. You will rotate through different sections of the laboratory, including Blood Banking, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology/PCR, Urinalysis, and Receiving and Processing Specimens, while providing operational support to facilitate workflow.
Just as our reputation has spread beyond our Minnesota roots, so have our locations. Today, our employees are located at our three major campuses in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona; Jacksonville, Florida; and Rochester, Minnesota, as well as at Mayo Clinic Health System campuses throughout Midwestern communities and our international locations. Each Mayo Clinic location is a special place where employees thrive in both their work and personal lives. This role requires availability to work weekends, overnight, and holiday shifts.
Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Qualified candidates should review the specific requirements for the position, including the necessary degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field with an appropriate certificate recognized by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status. Mayo Clinic participates in E-Verify and may provide the Social Security Administration and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
