The Clinic Nurse Manager serves as a pivotal leader within the Oncology Department at St. Lawrence Health (SLH), specifically overseeing the clinical management of Primary Practice Programs (PPM) in St. Lawrence County, New York. This role is designed to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across outpatient settings, bridging the gap between clinical excellence and operational efficiency.
You will work in a collaborative dyad relationship with Practice Managers and Coordinators, providing supervision and support to a diverse team including Clinical Care Coordinators, LPNs, and Medical Assistants. As a key liaison, you will partner with SLH function leaders, such as the Directors of Quality, Patient Safety, and Patient Experience, to drive continuous improvement in clinical standards for employed and contracted physicians, mid-level providers, and staff.
Your day involves a dynamic blend of strategic oversight and hands-on clinical leadership. You will conduct regular rounding to assess quality, ensure compliance with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and Department of Health (DOH) audits, and identify opportunities for staff growth. Acting as a primary resource for accreditation standards, you will coach staff on DNV requirements and lead initiatives to maintain a culture of safety.
Beyond compliance, you will integrate SLH's mission and core values into daily operations, ensuring that patient education resources—from chronic disease management to vaccination programs—are accessible and effective. You will also serve as a Super User for the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), supporting workflow improvements and troubleshooting for the team. In the Oncology sector specifically, you will help standardize infusion practices across the system, coordinating closely with pharmacy and inpatient units to ensure seamless delivery of chemotherapeutic and biological agents.
