The Clinic Nurse Manager serves as a pivotal leader within the Oncology Department at St. Lawrence Health (SLH), specifically managing the clinical operations of assigned Primary Practice Management (PPM) practices in St. Lawrence County, New York. This role is designed to bridge the gap between clinical excellence and operational efficiency, ensuring high-quality patient care across outpatient and infusion settings.
You will work in a collaborative dyad relationship with Practice Managers and Coordinators, providing supervision and support to a diverse team including Clinical Care Coordinators, LPNs, and Medical Assistants. A key aspect of this position involves partnering with key function leaders at SLH, such as the Directors of Quality, Patient Safety, and Patient Experience, to drive continuous improvement in clinical standards.
In this capacity, you will act as the primary resource for achieving compliance with rigorous accreditation standards, including Det Norske Veritas (DNV), CMS, and New York State Department of Health regulations. Beyond compliance, the role focuses on fostering a culture of safety and professional growth, serving as a Super User for the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to support workflow improvements, and developing innovative clinical programs like Chronic Care Management and Transitional Care Services.
As part of the Oncology Department, you will play a critical role in standardizing infusion practices across the SLH system. This involves coordinating closely with pharmacy, outpatient practices, and inpatient units to ensure seamless delivery of chemotherapeutic and biological agent administration. Your work directly supports the SLH mission by integrating core values into clinical services, ensuring that patients receive patient-centered care that is both safe and effective.
The role requires a strategic approach to managing the unique needs of the St. Lawrence Health System patient population, balancing fiscal responsibility with the delivery of high-quality clinical outcomes. You will be a vital link in the chain of care, assisting inpatient nursing leadership with operational duties and ensuring that the transition between inpatient and outpatient care is smooth and well-coordinated.
