About the Role
As a FedEx Freight Driver, you will serve as the vital link between our Service Centers and our customers. Your mission is to safely pick up and deliver freight while actively supporting our sales process by building relationships and identifying new business opportunities. This role is designed for individuals who take pride in operating heavy equipment and delivering exceptional customer service in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
You will operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples where applicable, navigating various road types and weather conditions. Beyond driving, your day involves performing daily safety inspections, hooking and unhooking trailers, and handling freight using motorized and manual equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks. You will be responsible for securing cargo, verifying documentation, and complying with all Department of Transportation regulations, including hazardous material procedures. Additionally, you will interact directly with customers to determine delivery needs, collect payments, and solicit additional business, acting as a brand ambassador for FedEx Freight.
Hiring Process
Candidates must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) meeting hiring standards and compliance with DOT regulatory requirements under section 391 are mandatory. For those operating Long Combination Vehicles (LCV) in specific states, additional certification standards apply. New hires must obtain the Hazardous Materials endorsement within 120 days of offer acceptance.
