The Tufts Division of Geographic Medicine and Infectious Diseases is seeking a board-certified Infectious Disease Physician to serve as a Hospital Epidemiologist at Tufts Medical Center and system-wide Chief Infection Control Officer (CICO) for Tufts Medicine. This physician-leader role uniquely combines clinical practice in Infectious Diseases with strategic leadership in Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology across the entire Tufts Medicine health system.
In this position, you will provide strategic, hospital, and healthcare system-wide leadership for infection control. The role is designed for a candidate who is deeply invested in contributing to the academic mission, possesses effective communication skills, and has the ability to lead and implement system-wide change. You will serve on the inpatient consult service while collaborating with senior leadership to define infection prevention goals and metrics aligned with organizational priorities.
Your day-to-day impact will involve overseeing infection control standards and regulatory compliance, educating staff and trainees on prevention strategies, and leading outbreak prevention, investigation, and response efforts. You will partner with the Infection Prevention, quality, and analytics teams to monitor infection trends and measure the impact of interventions. Additionally, you will advance infection prevention research and innovation, orchestrate epidemic preparedness, and represent Tufts Medicine in national, regional, academic, and public health forums focused on pandemic preparedness.
This role features a dual reporting structure at Tufts Medical Center to the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief of Infectious Diseases, alongside a collaborative relationship with leaders across the Tufts Medicine system. Success in this position requires strong interpersonal and change management skills to work effectively with diverse physician groups, clinical leaders, and multidisciplinary teams.
Candidates must hold an MD or DO with Board Certification in Infectious Disease and be eligible for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
