The Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis serves Precinct One, a diverse, urban area of Harris County with approximately 1.17 million residents. The precinct spans 363 square miles, encompassing a significant portion of Downtown Houston, major landmarks like the Texas Medical Center and NRG Park, and the campuses of several major universities. The Parks Subdivision is dedicated to enriching the lives of Harris County residents by inspiring visitors to learn, play, and connect. The division creates diverse programs and experiences in public places that are safe, welcoming, and natural. This role supports the maintenance of over 21 parks, 10 community centers, and numerous hike-and-bike trails, ensuring these vital community assets remain functional and beautiful.
This position is integral to maintaining the natural and recreational infrastructure of Precinct One. The selected candidate will work as part of a team to manage tree maintenance across park sites, right-of-ways, and trails. The role involves hands-on work in an outdoor environment, utilizing climbing skills, lifts, and power tools to prune trees, remove debris, and manage tree risk. The work requires navigating various weather conditions and operating forestry equipment to ensure the safety and aesthetic appeal of the precinct's green spaces.
