About the Role

The Capacity Manager serves as a strategic partner within ASM Research's federal IT environment, ensuring that enterprise infrastructure and mission-critical systems possess the resources necessary to meet current and future business demands. Operating within a highly regulated sector, this role bridges the gap between technical performance data and business planning. By monitoring compute, storage, network, and application tiers, the Capacity Manager analyzes trends to produce forecasts and reports that directly inform budgeting and technology decisions.

The position is designed to proactively identify capacity risks and recommend optimization strategies. You will collaborate closely with architecture, operations, and service owners to align capacity plans with service level targets, change schedules, and release cycles. The role focuses on translating complex technical metrics into actionable recommendations regarding cost, risk, and service objectives, ensuring resilience and efficiency across the organization.

  • check_circleProduce regular capacity reports and dashboards for leadership with actionable recommendations tied to cost and risk

  • check_circleLead capacity optimization initiatives including rightsizing, consolidation, and cloud elasticity to balance performance and cost

Requirements

Experience using enterprise monitoring and ITSM tools to automate capacity data collection, threshold alerting, and report generation for large multi-platform environments. Familiarity with cloud capacity concepts such as autoscaling, reserved instances, and hybrid capacity planning for mixed on-premises and cloud workloads. Background in federal government IT environments or highly regulated industries with experience adapting capacity processes to compliance and security requirements.
