About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to provide technical leadership for building and enhancing on‑premises data warehouse solutions while accelerating our migration to AWS, including Amazon Redshift. You will be an integral part of an exciting, fast-paced, and challenging work environment, playing a pivotal role in shaping technology solutions at Synchrony.

In this position, you will partner with information architects, platform architects, data scientists, and product management to design robust solutions. Your day-to-day will involve leading a technical team to ensure data solutions meet business goals, managing relationships with mid-level business partners, and collaborating within a Scaled Agile framework. You will work closely with globally located Agile teams across different shifts, utilizing innovative frameworks to promote automation and avoid redundancy.

You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training, and culture events.

Requirements

  • verifiedBachelor's degree and 4+ years technology experience in consumer banking OR High School Diploma/GED and 6+ years technology experience OR completion of Synchrony's Business Leadership Program
  • verifiedExperience with large scale relational databases and public cloud (AWS)
  • verifiedStrong experience with ETL, data warehousing, cloud technologies (AWS), and analytics
  • verifiedStrong skills in on-prem RDBMS, Ab Initio, advanced SQL, and AWS (Amazon Redshift)
  • verifiedExperience with batch and real-time data pipelines in a DevOps environment
  • verifiedAbility and flexibility to travel for business
  • verifiedMust be 18 years or older
  • verifiedMust be able to satisfy Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act
  • verifiedLegal authorization to work in the U.S. required; no visa sponsorship

Nice to Have

Prior work experience in a Credit card/Banking/Fin tech companies. Experience dealing with sensitive data in a highly regulated environment. Experience with data visualization technologies such as Tableau. Experience with APIs/Microservices in data-driven applications. Demonstrated implementation of complex and innovative solutions. Articles and publications in the field of data engineering.
