The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and the Sealy Center for Environmental Health and Medicine at UTMB Health invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate level. This role is designed for an independent investigator with training and experience in molecular toxicology or related fields, specifically focused on the impact of environmental agents on human disease.
The Sealy Center for Environmental Health and Medicine is undergoing a restructuring to foster dynamic interactions between basic and clinical environmental health scientists across UTMB and the Texas Medical Center. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with the center's leadership and members to advance research at the intersection of environmental factors and disease risk.
This position seeks an individual with expertise in the molecular mechanisms of toxicology, particularly regarding high-priority or emerging environmental exposures associated with adverse human health outcomes. Priority will be given to candidates whose research addresses neurodegenerative diseases, neurodevelopmental disorders, or chronic conditions such as metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.
The successful candidate will establish a dynamic, extramurally funded, and productive research program. Beyond independent research, the role involves engaging in teaching and mentoring at the graduate and medical school levels. The position requires active collaboration with the broader scientific community to elucidate mechanism-based targets, including biomarker discovery and development, and to synthesize complex datasets.
Applications for this tenure-track faculty position should include a curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests, and contact information for three references. Candidates must demonstrate a competitive record of publications and past or current funding.
