Our versatile experts assist in a broad range of surgeries in operating rooms across the country. We recognize the deep responsibility physicians feel for their procedures' success and their patients' health. Surgeons invest so much of themselves in their work that it is only right they have a highly trained, capable, and trustworthy team by their side.
Surgeons need integrated specialists who fully understand their methods and preferences. They need equipment that is perfectly prepped and ready every single time. They need people in the room pushing themselves just as hard as they are to deliver excellence day in and day out. That's why we work with and train the best in perfusion, IONM, ECMO, surgical assist, minimally invasive surgical support, deep brain stimulation, and more. We offer rewarding roles in allied healthcare that provide growth, development, and the chance to positively impact lives every day.
As a Perfusionist Assistant at our Harwood Heights, Illinois location, you will be an integral part of the surgical team, assisting certified Perfusionists in all aspects of care rendered. Your mission is to support cardiac and non-cardiac surgical procedures, ensuring that the perfusionist has the necessary support to maintain patient safety and procedural success.
In this role, you will operate under the direct supervision of a Certified Clinical Perfusionist, Cardiovascular Surgeon, and/or Anesthesiologist. Your day-to-day involves setting up and priming extracorporeal circuits, managing autotransfusion services, and processing platelet-rich plasma. You will act as a vital courier during cardiopulmonary bypass procedures, transporting blood samples and obtaining necessary supplies. Additionally, you will assist with Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) procedures, including equipment setup, monitoring, and waveform interpretation. Beyond the operating room, you will be responsible for equipment cleaning, inventory management, and participating in hospital committees to demonstrate quality improvement.
