About the Role
We are seeking an Assistant Store Manager to join our team at our Portsmouth, Virginia location. In this role, you will partner with the Store Manager to oversee daily store operations, ensure exceptional customer service, and drive team development. You will be instrumental in maintaining a positive, safe, and respectful environment for both associates and customers.
Day in the Life
Your day will be dynamic and fast-paced, requiring you to balance administrative tasks with hands-on leadership. You will assist in organizing merchandise transfers from delivery trucks to the sales floor, ensuring seasonal areas are maintained and store-front displays remain effective. Beyond operations, you will play a key role in supervising, training, and developing Store Associates, ensuring they adhere to company policies and safety guidelines.
You will also handle critical store functions such as opening and closing procedures, processing corporate directives, and managing record-keeping for payroll and cash deposits. A significant part of your responsibility involves maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the entire store, from the stockroom to the sales floor and restrooms. As a leader, you will be the first point of contact for customers, addressing their questions and concerns with a positive and approachable demeanor.
