UPMC Magee Women's Hospital is seeking an Assistant Director to support the UPMC Clinical Genomics Laboratory (UCGL). This role serves as a critical bridge between clinical operations and academic advancement, offering a unique opportunity to hold a faculty appointment at the University of Pittsburgh while leading technical initiatives in a high-volume environment.
The UCGL performs comprehensive prenatal, constitutional, and oncology molecular testing using advanced technologies such as next-generation sequencing (NGS). The Assistant Director will provide technical leadership and compliance oversight, ensuring the laboratory maintains the highest standards of quality and regulatory adherence. Day-to-day responsibilities include evaluating and reporting complex clinical genetics cases, assisting in the development and validation of new assays, and consulting with clinicians regarding test selection and result interpretation.
Beyond laboratory operations, this position is deeply embedded in the academic mission of UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty and researchers on projects aligned with clinical and public health goals, contribute to teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, and engage in training for laboratory staff, students, residents, and fellows. The role also involves active participation in business planning and service development in collaboration with UPMC Children's Hospital and other institutional partners.
