UPMC Magee Women's Hospital is seeking a PhD, MD, or DO Geneticist to serve as Assistant Director of the UPMC Clinical Genomics Laboratory (UCGL). This role sits at the intersection of clinical excellence, academic inquiry, and operational leadership. The position offers a unique opportunity to hold a faculty appointment at the University of Pittsburgh while supporting a laboratory that performs critical prenatal, constitutional, and oncology molecular testing for 20 million shoppers and patients across the region.
The Assistant Director will provide technical leadership and compliance oversight for a facility utilizing advanced technologies such as next-generation sequencing (NGS), whole exome sequencing, and pharmacogenomic analysis. Beyond case sign-out and assay development, the role involves active collaboration with UPMC Children's Hospital and University partners to drive service development and business planning. You will serve as a bridge between the laboratory and clinicians, consulting on test selection and result interpretation while mentoring the next generation of geneticists through teaching and training programs.
Aligned with the clinical and public health missions of UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh, this position includes a robust academic component. You will collaborate with faculty and researchers across the institution to advance the field of genetics. Responsibilities include contributing to teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, providing specialized training to laboratory staff, students, residents, and fellows, and maintaining a record of peer-reviewed publications and professional conference presentations.
