UPMC Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is seeking a PhD, MD, or DO Geneticist to serve as Assistant Director of the UPMC Clinical Genomics Laboratory (UCGL). This role sits at the intersection of clinical excellence, academic advancement, and operational leadership.
The UCGL is a vital hub performing prenatal, constitutional, and oncology molecular testing. The laboratory leverages advanced technologies, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), to deliver comprehensive services such as whole exome sequencing, disease-specific genomic panels, hereditary cancer screening, carrier screening, and pharmacogenomic analysis.
As Assistant Director, you will provide technical leadership and compliance oversight while holding a faculty appointment at the University of Pittsburgh. Your day-to-day impact involves evaluating and reporting complex clinical genetics cases, overseeing assay development, and consulting with clinicians on test selection and result interpretation.
You will play a key role in shaping the laboratory's future by collaborating with UPMC and University of Pittsburgh partners, including UPMC Children's Hospital, on service development and business planning. This position requires a balance of hands-on laboratory management, regulatory adherence, and active engagement in the academic community through teaching and research aligned with UPMC's public health mission.
