About the Role
The Assistant Branch Manager I (ABM I) serves as a vital leader within our small-branch operations, working under limited supervision to support the Branch Manager and Retail Service Manager. This role is designed to ensure seamless branch functionality, acting as the immediate authority for the teller line and stepping in as the Branch Manager when needed. The ABM I is essential to our mission of delivering personalized, in-person service while driving production goals through cross-selling and referral strategies.
In this position, you will not only manage workflow and operational compliance but also foster a culture of growth by coaching Relationship Specialists and Managers. You will serve as the bridge between frontline operations and strategic goals, ensuring that every member interaction reflects our commitment to equity, satisfaction, and security. From resolving complex member issues to leading training initiatives, the ABM I plays a hands-on role in maintaining the branch's reputation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circlePlan, organize, assign, and monitor workflow of the teller area to ensure effective delivery of products and services
- check_circleDirect branch personnel by establishing annual performance goals consistent with strategic and operational plans
- check_circleAct as a back-up performing frontline transactions and duties as needed to support operations
- check_circleOpen and close the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager or as required by the schedule
- check_circleCoach and mentor employees, assess staff performance, and write annual performance appraisals
- check_circleImplement and monitor compliance with Credit Union policies and procedures regarding teller operations
- check_circleReview and recommend changes to branch procedures to improve efficiencies and exceed sales goals
- check_circleMaintain branch security and ensure staff follow business continuity and disaster response plans
- check_circleConduct daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational, transaction, and fraud audits as required
- check_circlePrepare and present reports as requested by branch management and participate in special projects
- check_circleResolve complex and sensitive member issues escalated from the teller line with sound judgment
- check_circleOrient and train new Relationship Specialists and Relationship Managers on products, services, and compliance
Requirements
- verified3+ years branch operations experience in Credit Union or financial services
- verifiedMinimum 1 year lead teller experience
- verifiedExperience with loan operations
- verifiedExperience with regulatory compliance
- verifiedExperience overseeing staff of at least 3 employees
- verifiedSolid knowledge of Federal, State, and NCUA regulations
- verifiedProficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- verifiedHigh School diploma or equivalent
- verifiedNMLS Registered (Preferred)
- verified3+ years Senior Teller/Supervisor experience (Preferred)
- verified2+ years Nuvision experience (Preferred)
Nice to Have
3+ years of Senior Teller / Supervisor experience in a Credit Union or financial services industry. 2+ years of experience with Nuvision as a Senior Teller, regulatory compliance, and managing a staff of at least 3 employees. Bi-lingual.
