As a General Ledger Staff Accountant II, you will serve as a critical pillar of the Borough's financial integrity. In this supervisory capacity, you will manage and oversee the entire general ledger function, ensuring the accuracy of actuals, budgets, and encumbrances within our financial management system. This role is designed for a leader who thrives on maintaining data integrity while guiding a team of Fund Accountants through complex month-end and fiscal year-end closing cycles.
Your day-to-day involves more than just number-crunching; you will be the bridge between technical accounting requirements and practical financial operations. You will troubleshoot the GL and encumbrance modules, design reports to access critical data, and ensure that all financial statements and the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report meet rigorous standards. Additionally, you will play a key role in departmental policy development, audit preparation, and the implementation of new software projects, ensuring the Borough remains compliant with evolving governmental accounting concepts.
You will report directly to the Controller and lead a team of Fund Accountants within a professional, collaborative environment. Cross training or experience in information technology, financial auditing, grants compliance and single audits, electronic procurement and payment processing, banking services, and cash receipting/handling. Experience with recent versions of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher) and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Experience in project management.
