About the Role
This position serves as an accounting business partner, supporting assigned functions with moderately complex issues. You will participate in the month-end closing process, monitoring General Ledger entries to ensure appropriate allocation and analyzing accounts to avoid year-end audit exposure. Your role involves developing and recommending new procedures, processes, and policies for accounting operations while performing both statistical and financial analysis.
You will act independently to research and reconcile selected accounts and cost discrepancies, effectively communicating with field associates, corporate support staff, and management to ensure accounting issues are addressed promptly. This role requires protecting Petco’s accounting data received from internal and external sources and thinking critically to determine the appropriate course of action for complex data sets.

Requirements
- verified4 year college degree in Accounting/Finance
- verified3 to 5 years of work experience as junior or staff accountant
- verifiedIntermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access)

- verifiedProficiency with personal computer-based programs
- verifiedKnowledge of accounting fundamentals
