The Administer in Training (AIT) preceptor program is a paid internship designed to prepare individuals for a successful career as an Administrator in Long Term Care. Located in Aroostook County, this program offers a unique opportunity to develop actionable leadership skills and gain experience within a highly functioning team environment.
You will rotate through all departments to acquire comprehensive knowledge of facility operations, including Nursing, Food Services, Social Services, Activities, Housekeeping, Laundry, Human Resources, Account Management, and Maintenance. This hands-on approach ensures you develop strong business acumen in financial management, budget planning, and reimbursement systems such as Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers.
As a participant, you will learn to set, measure, and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and high-quality care outcomes. The role involves building expertise in compliance, regulation, and laws that guide the business, as well as implementing a Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) approach to care delivery and workforce management. You will also develop strategies to support census and mix targets while demonstrating effective community relations.
Candidates must hold a Baccalaureate degree in healthcare, healthcare administration, long-term care administration, nursing, social work, or psychology (Masters preferred) and possess at least 5 years of professional work experience. We are looking for individuals with a passion for delivering care to the elderly population and a willingness to relocate.
Successful completion of the program leads to meeting the State of Maine and Federal requirements established for the licensing of Multi-level Long Term Care Administrators.
