The Inpatient Services RN CAP 1 serves as an entry-level designation within the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). This position is designed for registered nurses with less than two years of nephrology nursing experience who are ready to join the kidney disease healthcare team. As a member of this specialized group, you will be accountable for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care, encompassing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for an assigned group of patients.
In this role, you will function as a vital resource for the healthcare team, participating in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes. You will collaborate closely with supervisors, educators, preceptors, physicians, and ancillary staff to ensure continuity of care across Fresenius Kidney Care and non-Fresenius dialysis providers. The position offers a dynamic environment where you will manage complex patient needs, including the administration of medications, intradialytic transfusions, and emergency response measures, while also providing essential education to patients and their families.
This position requires direct patient care in a healthcare facility setting, characterized by air temperature control and moderate noise levels. The role involves frequent and prolonged periods of standing, bending, and the potential for heavy lifting, including moving patients and equipment up to 200 lbs. with assistance. You may be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases and materials. The work environment is active, involving desk work, computer documentation, and constant interaction with patients, facility staff, and physicians.
The schedule includes participation in on-call rotations, as well as night, weekend, and holiday shifts as defined by program needs. You may also be required to travel between assigned facilities or to training and meeting sites. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
As a CAP 1 nurse, you are part of a structured pathway for professional development. This entry-level designation is the first step in the Clinical Advancement Program, with a clear requirement to complete CAP requirements to advance in your career.
