The Inpatient Services RN CAP 1 position serves as an entry-level designation within the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) at Fresenius Kidney Care. This role is designed for registered nurses with less than two years of nephrology nursing experience, providing a structured pathway to develop clinical expertise in kidney disease care.
As a vital member of the kidney disease healthcare team, you will be accountable for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve assessing, planning, intervening, and evaluating care for an assigned group of patients. You will work under the direction of a Supervisor, with guidance from Educators and Preceptors, while collaborating with physicians and facility staff to ensure continuity of care. This position also offers opportunities to participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that directly enhance patient outcomes.

This position involves direct patient care in a healthcare facility setting, which may include Baptist Health Paducah or Mercy Health - Lourdes Hospital. The work environment features air temperature control and moderate noise levels. The role requires frequent and prolonged periods of standing, bending, and the ability to lift or move patients and equipment, including machines up to 200 lbs. with assistance. You may also be exposed to infectious materials and are required to participate in on-call rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as defined by program needs.
Candidates for this role must possess a minimum of 9 months of experience as a Registered Nurse and a current state license. Successful completion of all Fresenius Kidney Care education and modality-specific training requirements is mandatory before assuming oversight of Patient Care Technicians or other staff as a designated Nurse in Charge. While acute dialysis experience is preferred, the program is structured to support entry-level nephrology nurses in advancing their skills.
