The Inpatient RN CAP 2 position serves as a pivotal member of the kidney disease healthcare team at Baptist Health Louisville. This role is designed for registered nurses who are either entering the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) or advancing from CAP 1. As a professional registered nurse, you will be accountable for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care, encompassing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for an assigned group of patients.
In this capacity, you will not only deliver direct patient care but also participate in decision-making, teaching, and leadership functions. You will collaborate with the broader team to enhance patient care outcomes and program operations, often acting as a resource, leader, and mentor for new and incumbent employees. The role requires a balance of clinical expertise and administrative coordination, ensuring continuity of care across Fresenius Kidney Care and non-Fresenius dialysis providers.
Your day involves the systematic collection and analysis of patient data before, during, and after treatment, with the authority to adjust treatment plans as indicated. You will administer medications and monitor patient responses to prescribed intradialytic transfusions, ensuring safety and efficacy. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to educating patients and their families regarding their condition and care needs.
You will direct safe, effective patient care for all modality-specific treatment procedures, often delegating appropriate tasks to Patient Care Technicians, LVNs, and LPNs. The role demands physical stamina, including prolonged standing, lifting, and moving patients or equipment, as well as the ability to respond to emergency situations. You will also engage in desk work, computer documentation, and interaction with facility staff and physicians to maintain high standards of nursing practice.
Candidates must meet specific clinical criteria, including a minimum of two years of Nephrology Nursing experience as an RN within the last two years. Acute dialysis experience is preferred. All duties are performed in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policies, state and federal regulations, and applicable contractual service agreements.
As a condition of employment, candidates are required to complete the Ishihara's Color Blindness test. Please note that failing this test does not automatically preclude employment; the company will consider reasonable accommodations. Additionally, successful completion of all FKC education and modality-specific training is required before assuming oversight of Patient Care Technicians, LPNs, LVNs, or other RNs as a designated Nurse in Charge.
Fresenius Medical Care is committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) and welcome applicants regardless of disability or veteran status. We strive to create an inclusive environment where diverse backgrounds are valued and where employees can grow through the Clinical Advancement Program.
