TARTA has recently embarked on a transformational journey following the passage of Issue 12 in 2021. This local sales tax levy has significantly increased investment into the transit authority and expanded its service area to all of Lucas County and the City of Rossford in Wood County. In response to the community's renewed focus and support, the Board adopted "TARTA Next," a ten-year plan designed to increase services, invest in capital assets like new mobility hubs and a zero-emissions bus fleet, and improve the customer experience through technology, infrastructure, and outreach.
This transformation is well underway, powered by a dedicated team of professionals ranging from the leadership team to every front-line member. As the organization grows and modernizes, the finance function plays a critical role in ensuring fiscal responsibility and operational alignment with these strategic goals.
The Accountant serves as a key partner in maintaining the financial integrity of TARTA during this period of expansion. This role encompasses intermediate accounting work, including the processing, recording, and reporting of financial transactions to align with the organization's objectives. Beyond standard accounting duties, the position oversees payroll functions to ensure accuracy and compliance, while also managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and grant compliance.
You will be an integral part of a busy office environment, working independently to perform complex financial reconciliations and analyze data to support decision-making. The role involves preparing monthly journal entries, assisting with the annual audit process, and contributing to the development of accounting policies and procedures. As TARTA continues to evolve, this position offers the opportunity to work on special projects that directly impact the organization's ability to serve the community effectively.
