Fulton County operates as a Government Administration entity located in Georgia, serving the residents and businesses within its jurisdiction. Established in 1853 by splitting from DeKalb County and later consolidating with Milton and Campbell Counties in 1932, the organization manages a distinct, elongated geographical footprint that reflects its unique historical formation. Among the 159 counties in the state, it holds the distinction of being the 144th to be created. The county derives its name from Robert Fulton, the inventor credited with building the Clermont, the first commercially successful steamboat in 1807. As a public administrative body, the county provides essential services and governance to the community while maintaining a connection to its historical roots and the legacy of its namesake.
