Sharp HealthCare is a leading integrated health system dedicated to providing premier patient care. The Chula Vista Medical Center serves as a vital hub for our community, delivering comprehensive emergency and medical services with a focus on patient safety and satisfaction. Our team operates under a collective bargaining agreement with SEIU-UHW, fostering a collaborative environment where union membership is an integral part of our employment culture.
This Per Diem position serves as the frontline guardian of patient registration and financial integrity within the Emergency Department. You will coordinate all registration functions necessary to ensure the processing of clean claims, acting as the bridge between clinical care and administrative precision. Your role is critical in facilitating maximum financial reimbursement while maintaining the highest standards of customer service.
In this capacity, you will utilize Patient Secure to accurately identify patient medical records and conduct face-to-face interviews with patients and their representatives. You will navigate complex regulatory landscapes, including EMTALA, ensuring that financial discussions occur only after medical screening is complete. Your day-to-day involves collecting patient demographics, verifying insurance coverage, and securing patient financial responsibility with tact and empathy, even during high-stress situations.
This position was initially posted exclusively to ratified SEIU members from May 6, 2026, to May 14, 2026. It is now open to internal candidates who are not members of the ratified Bargaining Unit, as well as external candidates. As part of the terms of employment, successful candidates are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement.
