The Patient Access Representative I serves as the vital first point of contact within the Kaiser Permanente Health System, welcoming patients into the care delivery setting. This role lays the essential groundwork for both clinical care and financial documentation by ensuring complete and accurate patient admission and registration. As an ambassador for the organization, you will facilitate a patient-friendly experience, guiding patients and families through Kaiser Permanente's facilities and routines with compassion, respect, and understanding.
You will work closely with the financial team (Patient Business Services and payors) and the clinical team (nursing, physicians, and hospital supervisors) to ensure the optimum patient experience, accurate registration, and maximum cash flow. This position acts as a bridge between the patient and the healthcare system, requiring you to navigate complex regulatory environments while maintaining a high level of service in high-volume areas, including Emergency Departments.
The work environment is fast-paced and can be stressful, often requiring you to respond to patients and families with diplomacy and independent judgment. You will operate on the front line, handling varied situations that demand strong organizational skills, prioritization, and the ability to switch tasks frequently while adhering to federal, state, and organizational compliance standards.
