The Academic Support Specialist serves as a vital bridge between the school community and the 10th Grade Cohort, working directly with the building principal and educators to drive positive academic change. This role is dedicated to helping students recover academic credits through targeted interventions and the strategic use of online credit recovery resources within the Learning Center.
In this position, you will act as a School-to-Home Liaison, facilitating home visits and maintaining open lines of communication with families. Your work involves analyzing academic progress and attendance data to guide students toward college and career readiness, ensuring they set meaningful goals and track their own progress effectively.
You will operate under the direct supervision of the Building Principal, collaborating with a diverse population of students, parents, and staff. Success in this role requires navigating various support systems within the school and community while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism. The mission is to foster a supportive environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed academically.
This position is based in standard office and school building environments but may also require working outdoors during student activities. The role involves the use of educational technology, including SMART boards, scoring software, and iPads, alongside standard office equipment. Limited travel between schools and central offices may be necessary to fulfill district duties.
