We are currently establishing the Quinnipiac University Rural Family Medicine Residency in Winsted, CT, and are seeking a core faculty member to help shape the education of future rural family medicine physicians.
This Academic Primary Care Physician position offers a unique blend of clinical practice and academic responsibility. Situated in the heart of Litchfield County, you will provide primary care to patients across all age groups, from newborns to adults, in a 100% office-based, outpatient setting. The role combines the professional rewards of academic medicine with the lifestyle benefits of practicing in one of Connecticut's most scenic, community-oriented rural regions.
You will work a full-time schedule on weekdays, balancing precepting, patient care, and administrative time. The position features a minimal call schedule, averaging only two call weekends per year and one weeknight call every two months. You will be supported by efficient operations, robust staffing including nursing and medical assistants, and advanced technology such as Epic with Dragon, Ambient AI integration, and patient self-scheduling.
Winsted is located in Litchfield County, offering a truly rural practice environment with strong community connections, surrounded by scenic landscapes and outdoor recreation. Despite its quiet pace, the location provides convenient access to larger cities like Hartford, Waterbury, and even New York City and Boston.
