As a Delivery Driver at American Food Service Depot, you are the vital link between our warehouse and our clients. Your mission is to ensure that every item is picked up, packed correctly, and safely delivered to the right location on time. You will work as an integral part of the delivery team, managing assigned routes and time schedules to maintain the high standards our customers expect.
Your day begins with a timely arrival in uniform, including work boots, and a pre-trip inspection of your vehicle. You will engage in transport for up to 11 hours, navigating various weather conditions to keep schedules on track. The role requires a balance of independence and teamwork; you must be self-motivated to manage your route while communicating effectively with the dispatch office regarding any shortages, returns, or delivery issues.
Throughout the shift, you will handle the physical demands of loading and unloading items, operating vehicles such as cars, trucks, or forklifts, and accepting payments. You are expected to review orders before and after delivery to ensure completeness and customer satisfaction. The environment is fast-paced, requiring you to handle stressful situations with a positive attitude while maintaining a clean and orderly cab.
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state where they intend to work, a clean driving record, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Special licenses may be required depending on the vehicles operated. We look for individuals who are safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and capable of working well on a team while remaining self-motivated.
