About the Role

We are currently hiring Youth Leaders to work in schools throughout San Diego County. This role is vital for ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of children enrolled in our ASES programs. You will be matched with a school near your location that has an opening, serving communities in Mira Mesa, Clairemont Mesa, Tierrasanta, Serra Mesa, the College Area, Pacific Beach, Mission Valley, North Park, and National City.

As a Youth Leader, you will supervise day-to-day activities while maintaining required ratios. Your day will involve redirecting inappropriate behavior, providing academic homework assistance, and developing clubs and activities. You will also maintain a clean and orderly designated school space and manage devices used during distance learning. Success in this role requires high energy to balance multiple tasks, the ability to operate a vehicle, and the flexibility to travel throughout the county.

Hiring Process & Application

To apply, candidates must meet specific minimum competencies, including being at least 18 years old and having either 48 completed college units or passing the District's Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam. Additionally, a minimum of 6 months of experience in an after-school program, group child care, or babysitting elementary-aged children is required.

Upon hire, successful candidates must obtain valid CPR and First Aid certification, valid TB results, and Fingerprint Clearance (paid by Harmonium). The position is part-time, requiring at least three afternoon shifts per week from Monday to Friday. Schedules must be pre-approved by a supervisor to accommodate any school conflicts.

Compensation & Benefits

New hires begin at a starting rate of $20.60 per hour, regardless of prior experience. Part-time benefits include voluntary benefits, a 403b retirement plan with a match, and CA Paid Sick Leave. Employees also receive hands-on training, virtual courses, and live presentations.
