This Adjunct position serves as a vital resource for students pursuing careers in welding, offering instruction in both credit and non-credit courses. The role focuses on teaching the safe and proper use of equipment, supplies, and welding procedures, while also inspecting and assessing the quality and strength of welding work. Instructors are expected to maintain all equipment and technology in operational condition and may be required to work weekends or during early morning and evening hours to accommodate class schedules.
Instructors will provide meaningful instruction for all assigned classes, ensuring punctuality and adherence to the complete class period. A significant portion of the role involves developing and distributing course syllabi aligned with approved master syllabi, which detail requirements, attendance policies, and grading strategies. Beyond the classroom, the role includes advising and mentoring students on course progress and retention strategies, referring at-risk students to counseling, and serving as a resource for employment or advanced educational opportunities.
Instructors must maintain accurate attendance and evaluation records, submit grade rosters on time, and respond to student inquiries within 24 hours on workdays and 48 hours on weekends. The position requires fostering a culture of mutual respect for students, guests, and co-workers from all backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities, while representing the college in a professional and positive manner.
Candidates must pass a pre-employment criminal background screen as a condition of employment. The college values professional development and expects instructors to participate in activities such as convocations and LCTC conferences to enhance effectiveness.
