This Night Shift Vehicle Service Technician position is critical to the continuity of emergency medical services. The role ensures that EMS vehicles are fully stocked, sanitized, and mechanically ready for immediate deployment upon the arrival of the crew. Beyond vehicle readiness, the technician plays a key support role in maintaining the cleanliness and operational integrity of the facilities and equipment, while assisting the Materials Coordinator with daily warehouse operations.
This role operates within the unique and demanding context of EMS logistics. Employees may be exposed to inclement weather, hazardous conditions, and potential biological hazards. The environment is characterized by frequent interruptions, high work pressure, and irregularities in the schedule. Staff must be prepared to manage multiple high-priority projects with continually changing deadlines. Occasional travel and attendance at both regular and unscheduled meetings, some occurring outside standard working hours, are expected.
Safety is a core component of this position. The role involves significant physical activity, including manual handling of heavy equipment (up to 85 pounds regularly, 160 pounds with assistance) and operation of vehicles and machinery. To mitigate risks such as slips, falls, and injuries from moving equipment, strict adherence to preventive measures is required. This includes utilizing proper body mechanics, wearing protective footwear, maintaining clear aisles, and following specific protocols for ladder use, pallet jack operation, and vehicle entry/exit.
Employees must also be vigilant regarding biological safety. Stocking and cleaning ambulances carries a risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens; therefore, successful completion of annually mandated training and the consistent use of provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are mandatory. All staff are expected to maintain a high level of safety awareness, reporting damaged equipment or unsafe conditions immediately to ensure a secure working environment.
Work model: On-site
