The Houston Area Women's Center (HAWC) works to end domestic and sexual violence and supports all in building safe and healthy lives through advocacy, counseling, education, shelter, and support services. As the primary liaison between HAWC and our volunteer community, the Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing this mission by creating meaningful opportunities for community involvement and building strategic partnerships that strengthen both our volunteer base and fundraising capacity.
This position manages the complete volunteer management lifecycle—from initial outreach and recruitment through onboarding, engagement, retention, and recognition. You will serve as the central point of contact for all volunteer inquiries, ensuring that every interaction reflects HAWC's values and commitment to survivors. The role requires a collaborative approach, working across departments to identify needs, develop corporate volunteer partnerships, and leverage volunteer engagement for fundraising impact.
Day-to-day, you will coordinate facility tours to showcase HAWC's programs to prospective donors, assess program effectiveness using data, and represent the organization at community events and volunteer fairs. While the primary work location is at the One Safe Place Houston campus, the role includes a hybrid component with a certain number of weekly hours designated as virtual, varying based on organizational needs.
Qualified applicants are considered for employment without regard to age, gender, race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, physical or mental disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, or any other illegal grounds. HAWC is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Interested candidates should submit their application materials to volunteer@hawc.org. Please note that this job description is intended to provide guidelines for job expectations and is not an exhaustive list of all functions. Additional duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate by leadership.
