The Chief of Staff serves as the operational and clinical anchor of the hospital, balancing the dual mandate of delivering world-class veterinary care and driving business performance. This role is designed to advocate for pets and their quality of life while fostering long-term, trusting relationships with clients. By partnering with the Practice Manager and Medical Director, the Chief of Staff ensures a safe, engaging environment where the veterinary medical team can thrive.
The position operates on a dynamic split of responsibilities: approximately 70-80% is dedicated to hands-on veterinary practice, including diagnostics, surgery, and client education, while 20-30% focuses on leadership, team development, and operational efficiency. The Chief of Staff acts as a role model for the Banfield brand, mentoring associate veterinarians, resolving client concerns, and identifying operational bottlenecks to ensure the hospital runs smoothly and profitably.

Candidates must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree and possess a valid veterinary license. Two years of clinical experience and 1-3 years of coaching experience are required. Successful candidates must be able to obtain state controlled substance and federal DEA registration within three months of employment.

We offer a competitive pay range of $118,000 - $170,000 and a relocation package. This role may require flexibility with hours, including weekends and evenings, to meet client needs and work volume.
