About the Role

The Chief of Staff serves as the operational and clinical anchor of the hospital, balancing the dual mandate of delivering world-class veterinary care and driving business performance. This role is designed to advocate for pets and their quality of life while fostering long-term bonds between clients and their animals. By partnering closely with the Practice Manager, the Chief of Staff ensures a safe, engaging environment where the veterinary medical team can thrive, maximizing both medical quality and productivity.

The position embodies a dynamic day-to-day rhythm, typically split between 70-80% hands-on veterinary practice and 20-30% leadership duties. As a practicing veterinarian, you will lead the daily schedule, perform diagnostics and surgeries, and manage complex medical cases. Simultaneously, you will act as a mentor and coach for Associate Veterinarians, shaping their professional development and ensuring they adhere to the highest standards of the Banfield brand. You will be the face of the hospital, resolving client concerns, educating the community on preventive care, and championing the organization's core values.

Our Culture and Mission

At Banfield Pet Hospital, we are guided by the Five Principles of Mars, Inc., which define our approach to work and leadership:

  • Quality: The consumer is our boss; quality is our work, and value for money is our goal.
  • Responsibility: We demand total responsibility from ourselves and support the responsibility of others.
  • Mutuality: A mutual benefit is a shared benefit; a shared benefit will endure.
  • Efficiency: We use resources to the full, waste nothing, and do only what we can do best.
  • Freedom: We need freedom to shape our future; we need profit to remain free.

We are committed to creating a collaborative environment where associates are empowered to solve problems, innovate, and deliver exceptional service. The Chief of Staff plays a pivotal role in building this culture, ensuring that every team member feels supported, engaged, and aligned with our mission to provide the highest quality care to the most pets and clients.

Hiring Process and Application

For Current Associates: If you are a current associate, please apply through our internal career site. Log into Workday, click on the Jobs Hub app, or search for "Browse Jobs" to find this opportunity.
