About the Role
This position serves as the full journey-level Utility Plant Operator, representing the core of our water treatment operations. Unlike trainees, you will operate the plant independently, managing the full range of duties required to ensure safe and compliant water delivery to the community. You will be fully trained in all procedures and policies, receiving only occasional guidance when facing new or unusual situations.
As an essential employee, your role is critical to community resilience. You will be expected to remain reachable and ready to respond immediately to critical situations, such as severe weather, power outages, or equipment malfunctions, to help manage the response and minimize service disruption.
Work Environment & Culture
You will work within a water treatment plant environment that involves exposure to hazardous chemicals, equipment, waste, and high noise levels. The role demands adaptability to extreme weather conditions and a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-backs. Success in this role requires the ability to interact effectively with the public, including handling inquiries from customers or dissatisfied individuals, while maintaining a focus on safety and operational excellence.
