This administrative and technical role serves as the operational and administrative leader for the Reclaimed Water Treatment Plant, lift stations, and the reclaimed water augmentation system. The position ensures the uninterrupted flow of operations across the treatment plant and all remote facilities while maintaining strict compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements.
The incumbent is responsible for the holistic management of the Reclaimed Water Operations Division, including planning, training, organizing, and directing staff. This includes overseeing the preparation of reports for regulatory agencies, managing capital budgets, and implementing initiatives to support treatment process improvements.
This position is an integral part of the City's Emergency Management Team. As such, the incumbent is expected to perform all duties assigned during an emergency management operation. Failure to appear for emergency management assignments or to work assigned shifts as scheduled may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Any additional compensation for emergency activation is determined by the City Manager.
The role carries significant supervisory responsibilities within the Reclaimed Water Operations Division. The incumbent directly supervises subordinate supervisors and is tasked with the full cycle of personnel management, including interviewing, hiring, training, and performance appraisals. This includes mentoring, motivating, and coaching staff, as well as addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
