This position serves as a critical liaison between VDOT, utility companies, and municipalities to ensure the safe and compliant relocation of utilities during highway construction and maintenance projects. The role exists to facilitate the seamless integration of utility adjustments with project schedules, ensuring all work adheres to strict State and Federal requirements.
In this capacity, you will represent VDOT on assigned projects, coordinating with utility design engineers and contractors to discuss project priorities and manage the submission of relocation plans. Your day-to-day involves reviewing engineering plans for highway and rail impacts, conducting field inspections to determine cost responsibilities and easement requirements, and preparing in-plan agreements for execution. You will also play a key role in the SAFETEA-LU Grade Crossing Safety Improvement Program, managing data, resolving concerns, and assisting the VDOT Rail Safety Section to ensure all grade crossing projects are successfully implemented.
