This position supports the Urogynecology department, providing essential clinical and administrative assistance to ensure high-quality patient care. The role operates within a Patient Centered Medical Home or Specialty Practice framework, fostering an environment where patients are encouraged to actively participate in their own care.
As a Medical Assistant, you will assist with a full range of advanced patient care duties, including triage, treatment, and procedures for patients across the lifespan—from neonates to geriatric age groups. Your day will involve performing advanced initial screenings, recording vital signs and medical histories, and collecting and storing specimens. You will also conduct necessary tests and procedures within your scope of practice while maintaining a sanitary work area and managing equipment.
Beyond direct patient care, you will handle various administrative functions, such as monitoring expenditures, preparing reports, and potentially participating in research projects to develop service plans. A key part of your mission is upholding patient safety by proactively identifying risks, reporting errors or near misses, and ensuring adherence to all hospital and departmental policies.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent and be a graduate of a Medical Assistant program or have military equivalent training. One year of directly related experience is required. Additionally, CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification is essential and must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
