This position serves as the administrative backbone of the unit, coordinating clerical support functions to ensure the delivery of effective and efficient patient care. The role exists to facilitate smooth operations within the department, ensuring that all duties are performed in strict accordance with established policies and procedures of the medical center.
The role is performed in a setting that is not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. However, depending on the specific area of assignment, the position may involve exposure to body fluids from specimens. In assignments such as Behavioral Health, Queen Emma Clinics, and the Outpatient Center, staff may encounter hostile, disruptive, or inappropriate patient behavior.
The position requires the ability to see, hear, speak, and use finger dexterity. Essential duties include lifting and carrying weights up to 15 pounds. Depending on the assignment, the role involves continuous or frequent standing, sitting, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching at various levels (above, at, and below shoulder level). The role also requires operating computers, telephones, pneumatic tube systems, and various office equipment.
