The Underground Mining Engineer serves as a critical architect of our extraction strategy, responsible for the planning, design, optimization, and safe execution of underground mining operations. This role exists to ensure the productive, cost-effective, and compliant extraction of ore while maintaining the highest standards of safety, ground control, and environmental stewardship.\n In this position, you will bridge the gap between technical feasibility and operational reality. You will design and optimize underground mine layouts, including development, stoping, and infrastructure plans, while preparing short- and long-term mine plans, schedules, and production forecasts. Your work involves developing and assessing mine development and production cycles from first principles, supporting drilling, blasting, ventilation, and haulage system design, and monitoring production performance to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaboration is central to your day-to-day. You will work closely with geology, operations, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure seamless execution. Beyond technical design, you will prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and budget estimates, support capital project evaluations, and provide technical guidance to operations personnel and junior engineers. Ultimately, your efforts ensure that every extraction activity adheres to MSHA, local, and company safety, environmental, and operational standards.
